Scott Pilgrim Game Review

Scott Pilgrim Game Review

Sep 22, 2010

Story

Scott Pilgrim: The Game is more based on Bryan Lee O’Malley’s graphic novels.

If you you’ve never even heard of Scott Pilgrim’s existence at all, Then you need to seriously get a  drill FROM GURREN LAGANN into your head.
The story of this game really is vague and gives no  dialog , which is why I suggest checking out the graphic novel or watching the movie if you’re interested in knowing the story.
This game won’t tell you anything other then beat up 7 ex-boyfriends and the rest of  Toronto’s citizens.
3/10  You don’t need a story for a retro beat em up man, but it would have been nice to have some dialog.

Graphics
What I like
Scott Pilgrim isn’t 8-bit, it’s more like a Super Nintendo game’s graphics, but definitely better, with bright, two-dimensional graphics and pixilated characters and environments. The Art design is based on the graphic novels, so characters from the game look like  or almost like their counterparts from the comics.
The design of this game gives you hints and references from other games, which you’ll find entertaining.
Dun’ Like
I never really liked how they designed Ramona, her hair is just too bright, she doesn’t look as much a  she supposed to.
9/10
Music
Nothing to hate here! The music is FANTASTIC!
The game’s music was written by Anamanaguchi, a chip tune punk band from New York. Most of the music is very upbeat during the game, and the eight-bit style added an additional level of nostalgia. it combines Guitar, drums, and 8-bit sounds to enhance it’s epicness.
10/10
Gameplay
What I like
As I said before this game makes you fight against the world. This game is a mix of too many games to even start mentioning.
All I can say to you is that you must bash hordes of delinquents until they turn into money in order to reach the stage boss.
You can choose between 4 different characters.
You travel through all seven stages, collecting money from hordes of people to buy items and unlocks that can help increase your health, stats, and attacks.
You gain experience  through fighting and of course allows you to level up in order to unlock powerful attacks.
These moves can increase the amount of damage you give, as well as add new abilities such as double jumping.
The co-op is fun! You can join in with all your friends kicking the asses of every person in Toronto! It makes the game a lot easier too.
Dun’ Like!
There isn’t any online mutli-player! What a horrible draw back! I would of thought they would add such a  feature to such an epic game.

9/10 I was going to put a 10/10, but since there ins’t any online multiplayer  co-op I had to deduct a point  from this.

  1. Hey WAIPT,
The review was awesome. I finally got to play the demo over at my friend Nosh’s house the other day and multiplayer was quite fun. You were right Phantom.Index, jumping and kicking is the way to go, but I usually had a bat in my hand(or an umbrella).

Did you know if someone throws a baseball you can hit it with the bat? I don’t know if you can hit other things like basketballs with umbrellas but I bet you could. The game is basic but I also like all the detail they added to this classic “brawler” game style like going into stores and rainbox doors? lol.

Thanks for this sweet review, I enjoyed the Reach Review as well.
